Turning Information Into Intelligence

Introduction

Limbic technologies improve image-based determinations through the advanced utilization of image intensity signals.

Limbic first generation products enable humans to see a fuller spectrum of image intensity signals than they can discern using unaided vision. The Company's patented technology overcomes the limited capacity of the human vision system to "see" subtle variances in image intensities between points. Limbic solutions accomplish this by converting image intensity signals into "edge" signals, expressed as elevation in a dynamic 3-D surface map, which human vision is well equipped to detect.

Limbic Systems is first commercializing this technology in forensic and security markets - primarily due to the Company's original vector for application development. However, Limbic technologies can offer substantial advantages wherever human vision is utilized to perceive or interpret image signals precedent to important image-based decision-making.

Products - PrintIQ

PrintIQ is Limbic's first commercial product release. PrintIQ is a fingerprint identification tool that lets fingerprint experts use previously undetectable image intensity data to improve fingerprint determinations.

Fingerprint identification technologies comprise 75% of the market for fingerprint and biometric products. Complemented by new biometric solutions, fingerprint identification will continue to serve as the core identification metric used by law enforcement and security agencies - for both civil and criminal matters.

Two major crime lab "luminary sites" have successfully used the pre-commercial version of PrintIQ for over six months and contributed ideas carried out in the final design. Independent scientific validations both of the core technology and the fingerprint application are pending - and scheduled for completion before product release.

PrintIQ will be released in November 2003. It will be sold either in a complete workstation solution or as software only.

Products - ForensicIQ Suite

ForensicIQ is the full suite of forensic/security application products being developed by Limbic. PrintIQ is the first-to-be-released application in this suite. Other applications are planned, in response to demand from crime lab users as they discover potential value to Lumen's core technology applied to non-fingerprint evidence categories, including firearms, bloods spatters, tracks, pattern injuries and questioned documents.

Products - MICS

MICS (Measurement of Internal Consistency Software) was invented by Patrick Love, the Founder of Limbic. Following 3 years of development, a pre-commercial version 1 of MICS was released. The last pre-commercial edition, version 2.5, was completed in August 2003.

MICS is the platform upon which specific-application commercial products will be based. The first commercial product extension of MICS is PrintIQ - a fingerprint identification solution to be released in Q4, 2003.

MICS remains available for purchase - but the Company plans to concentrate market, sales and support efforts on specific application versions of the based software. However, buyers of MICS between September 1, 2003 and November 1, 2003 will be entitled to a fully functional version of PrintIQ, as a free upgrade, at the time of its commercial release.

Products - MATT

MATT (Measurement And Tabulation Tool) is software automating a process of handwriting analysis now manually performed by most questioned document examiners. MATT is being released in September 2003 as a separate solution, fully operable on most personal computers. MATT functionality is slated to be integrated into the ForensicIQ product suite, when Lumen develops and releases a questioned document module to complement PrintIQ.
